A Study of Orange

Why are you so sure, that an orange is orange in colour?

Do we merely perceive orange as light hit upon our cone cells? Consider, does smell and memory come into play? Did Science prove, so that you believe? Did Art teach, so that you paint? Or did Philosophy ask, so that you think?

Peeled orange against blue backdrop. 2011. Canon G5. RAW, digitally pushed 3-stops, digital burning, noise added.

Perhaps orange is simply a word arbitrarily coined, that nothing makes sense unless all perceptions and thoughts act in synergy.
